Johnny Paycheck was born Donald Eugene Lytle on March 31, 1937, in Greenfield, Ohio. Early in his career, Paycheck played backup for some of Country Music's biggest stars. He played alongside Porter Wagoner, Faron Young, Ray Price and George Jones before successfully launching out on his own. From 1965 thru 1989, Johnny Paycheck charted 60 songs. His biggest hit was his 1977 superhit, 'Take This Job And Shove It,' written by David Allan Coe. The song became the #1 anthem of America's frustrated work force! When tempers run high on the job, even the boss has to grin at the song's hilarious honesty. Besides becoming one of the most recognized names in Country Music, Paycheck is one of Country's finest songwriters. He co-wrote Tammy Wynette's 1966 hit, 'Apartment #9.' The song became Wynette's first hit recording, and it won the ACM 'Song Of The Year.' On this collection, Paycheck sings his rendition of the song. Paycheck has always been know for the tongue-in-cheek humor heard in his songs. No one can doubt that fact as he spices things up with his hilarious 1967 hit, 'Don't Monkey With Another Monkey's Monkey.' Paycheck's powerful persona comes through strong as he sings 'Heaven's Almost As Big As Texas.' Johnny then slows things down a bit as he gives us a glimpse of his serious side when he sings one of the great classics, 'Danny Boy.' If you like the song, you'll love his version. During his life, Johnny Paycheck was highly regarded as one of Country Music's great singers by fans and peers alike. In 1997, Paycheck became a member of the Grand Old Opry. In 2003, following a long illness, Johnny Paycheck died at the age of 64.
